Waxing/Sealants:The use of  waxes and sealant products to protect your car's paint. I use high grade waxes (spray, liquid and paste forms) and  sealants to protect your car's paint against the elements. Sealants generally last longer than waxes.

Polishing:The art of using polishing compounds with the correct polishing pads to remove paint surface imperfections. These compounds can be applied either by hand or machine. I use a dual action (spins and oscillates) polisher which is safe on your paint. Polishing produces the highest shine on your car's paint. If you remember nothing else, "Polishing shines, waxing protects".  Highly recommended for those looking to restore that new car look.

About Paint

Most modern cars have what is defined as multi stage paint. As shown in the picture above, the first layer is the metal of the car, the next layer is the primer followed by the base coat which is the color of the car. That is topped with a clear coat paint to protect the color and car. When a car is lightly scratched, has etches from bird droppings or oxidation, the paint decontamination, polishing and enhancement processes when performed correctly will level the clear coat for a beautiful finish.

I want you to be informed so you make wise car care choices. Here are a few services explained which will educate and help you distinguish my services from those at your local car wash.

Paint Enhancement:This  process  uses various paint cleaning products, various degrees of aggressive compounds and polishes to reduce imperfections and produce the highest level of shine possible. Want to make your car look its best? Look into my paint enhancement services.

Paint Decontamination:I use both a chemical method and traditional claying. The chemical method is great for removing iron particles from both your paint and your wheel/rims (i.e., brake dust). Claying is the process of using paint safe clay and a lubricant to remove embedded matter from your car's paint. Both methods will improve your paint and help to elevate it's shine by creating a smoother surface. Sounds a little like skin cleansing, doesn't it?

Sharply Dressed by JP Auto Detailing

Why an auto detailer over a car wash? Great question. First, here are a few questions for you. Why have clothes tailored versus off the rack?  Why Champaign versus sparkling wine?  Why buy Cuban and Dominican cigars? Why that perfect color of shoes for the occasion? Why that unique perfume/cologne? You get my point. Excellent products and services are what we want. Let me provide you with excellence a car wash cannot provide.

Most people stop at the above steps. Read about paint decontamination and enhancement to learn more about processes to greatly enhance your vehicle's appearance and your pride in it.

Single stage paint  is several paint layers of the color of your car. You will know your car has single stage paint during the drying and buffing stage as you'll see the color of your paint in the towel or rag.

Washing Methods:I use three methods for washing vehicles.

  • Traditional*: Washing with water, high grade liquid soap and grit guards designed to clean your vehicle safely.
  • Waterless: Washing with a spray product designed to encapsulate and lift surface dirt from your vehicle.
  • Rinseless: Washing your vehicle with a special solution designed to lubricate and encapsulate the dirt on your car. No rinsing, simply wipe dry.

All methods are safe when done properly. Waterless and rinseless are environmentally friendly and are very useful in water restricted areas, apartment complexes, office parking lots, etc..

* I do not carry water for traditional washes. If your vehicle is heavily soiled (caked on mud, etc.), I will require access to water.
